FLDC Shows

THE Fort Lauderdale Dog Club began over 40 years ago as an obedience training club. We have grown from that limited focus to a full all breed AKC member club.

OUR initial shows were rather small, but our two shows per year have grown to become Broward County's major dog events with over 1.000 entries each. These shows are held the third weekend of March at the Davie Rodeo Arena.

OUR club also sponsors an annual "B" Match for dog owners and handlers interested in improving their training skills. This is a great time to socialize younger inexperienced dogs in a more relaxed atmosphere. Our AKC sanctioned matches are usually held at TY Park in Hollywood.

WE also offer Obedience Classes and a Doggy Fun Zone.

See Our Events Page for Upcoming Shows!

They also assisted with the MASH unit that was established in the Cutler Ridge area to provide medical attention to injured animals. This location also provided a surrender point for animals that could no longer be kept by their owners under the extreme circumstances. Since then, FLDC has worked to gather information on what to do before, during and after a hurricane. This information will be posted here in the near future.
FLDC regularly hosts micro-chipping clinics which enables owners to find their lost pet. Through this program, a trained veterinarian inserts an inert microchip into your pet. The chip gives any properly equipped party the capability to scan the "chip" and find the pet's owner.

WE also host an annual CERF clinic where a visiting ophthalmologist certifies canine retinas or diagnoses disease.
Please see our Events page for notices of upcoming clinics!

FLDC Political Activity
WE have always been politically active with animal issues and related problems. FLDC is a strong supporter of ADOA (American Dog Owners' Association), which deals with legislative issues across the country that endanger our rights as dog owners. One or more of our members has represented our club by sitting on the Board of ADOA over the past 25 years.
Current FLDC Members sitting on the ADOA Board:
Ted Birk - Board Member Emeritus. Ted was instrumental in involving FLDC with the American Dog Owners' Association.
